FAQs

Q: At which campus are the Interior Design classes taught?
A: All major courses are only offered at the Central Campus (uptown location). However, students may elect to complete required general education courses at any campus.

Q: How long will it take to complete the Associate in Applied Science degree in Interior Design?
A: The A.A.S. degree program can be completed in as few as five semesters by full-time students following the recommended course sequence outlined under Programs of Study. However, the program may be completed on a part-time basis as the student's schedule allows.

Q: Can I complete the A.A.S. degree or the diploma at night?
A: While we cannot make promises about when courses will be available, we currently offer all courses required for the diploma in Residential Interior Decoration in the evenings over a two year period on a rotating basis.  Concerning the A.A.S. degree, there are no plans at this time to offer the full program at night.  Note that students who only attend class in the evenings should plan to take only one or two courses per semester.

Q: What does it cost to attend classes at CPCC?
A: Currently the cost for courses taken at CPCC is $65.50 per credit hour for students who are residents of North Carolina. Therefore for residents the total cost for all required courses, tuition only, is approximately $4,780.00.  Note that the costs shown above do not include lab fees, parking fees, activity fees, and any other appliable fees. And all costs are subject to change without notice. To be considered a resident of North Carolina a student must have lived in the state for one year or more.

The cost for non-residents is substantially higher. Please refer to the college catalog for current rates. If you have questions concerning your residency status please contact the Admissions Office at 704-330-6006.

In addition to tuition and fees, students should allow approximately $150.00-$200.00 per course for books and materials.

Q: What must I do to register for classes?
A: Anyone interested in attending CPCC must first apply for admission to the college. This can be easily completed online at www.cpcc.edu. When the CPCC main page comes up click on the link titled “Admissions/Registration” in the green box, and then under "Admissions" click "online Admissions". From there, simply follows the directions. There is no charge for applying and there is no obligation to attend.

Q: Can I transfer credit from other colleges or programs that I have attended?
A: There is a good chance that some credit hours completed both here and at other colleges/universities will apply to our programs. Students transferring in credit from other colleges or universities must have a transcript sent directly from that institution to the CPCC student records office. Additionally, in order for transcripts to be evaluated, the Request for Transcript Evaluation form must be filed. For questions concerning the transcript evaluation process, contact the counseling office at 704.330.2722.

Q: When does registration begin and when do the regular semesters actually start?
A: Early registration for the fall semester usually begins in May and regular registration for fall is during July & August. Early spring semester registration usually begins in mid November with regular spring registration in January. Fall classes begin in August and spring classes begin in mid January. Refer to the CPCC academic calendars for exact dates. REGISTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, INTERIOR DESIGN COURSES ARE IN HIGH DEMAND AND FILL VERY QUICKLY.
