The CPCC Art Gallery provides an opportunity for CPCC students, faculty and staff to exhibit their paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture, ceramics, and other work on the CPCC Campus and to the community.
Entries
All entries must be original works: that is, not copies or photographs of other art. Work may be paintings, drawings, mixed media, photographs, prints, ceramics, sculpture, furniture, jewelry, or fiber art. Prints and photos must be original and printed by the photographer.
Sales
Artwork may be for sale or may be loaned for the duration of the exhibition period. Purchases will be made through the CPCC Art Gallery, and will be subject to a 25% commission to the gallery.
Eligibility
Any student, faculty or staff may be considered for exhibition opportunities. Small exhibitions outside of the CPCC Art gallery will be selected by the gallery director or the director’s designee.
Entry Fee
There is no entry fee.
Specifications
All 2-D works on paper, including photography, should be framed. Paintings must be at least strip framed or gallery wrapped. All works to be hung must be ready for hanging (complete with wire and screw eyes).
NOTE: Work requiring special installation must be hung with the artist’s assistance. Special arrangements for the installation and pick up of these works must be determined. Limitations on the size of work is based on placement location and will be determined as needed.
The Visual Arts faculty reserves the right to exclude any item deemed inappropriate for exhibition.
Responsibilities
The facilitators of exhibitions will handle all artwork with care and consideration at all times. Central Piedmont Community College will not accept any liability for artwork damaged during the installation, viewing or dismantling of CPCC Exhibitions. Your signature on the Inventory Card is proof that you agree to this condition. Artists are required to retrieve work when notified of its release. Artists are required to inform the Visual Arts office of any changes of contact information. Work left unclaimed after 30 days of written notification will become property of the Art Department.
Non-CPCC Artists
Artists interested in exhibiting with our Gallery are encouraged to submit slides and a resume for review by the gallery committee. Application forms may be obtained by calling the Division Director at 704-330-6978 or the Visual Arts Office at 704-330-6956.
