ALBERTO GIACOMETTI
Presented by Advanced and Proficient Visual Arts
Ross Gallery
June 21 - July 31, 2013
Opening Reception: June 27, 5:30 - 7:00
With a short talk by Christopher Lawing, Vice President of Programming and Research at the Bechtler Museum of Art
As Part of an education outreach grant program with the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Arts and Science Council, students worked with resident artist Ginny Boyd to create the portraits on view. In January, the class traveled to the museum to view a special exhibition,
Giacometti: Memory and Presence
Giacometti is one of the most recognized 20th Century modernists. This exhibit presented sculptures, paintings, drawings, and decorative objects created by the artist. It was through this experience that students were able to see and understand the different processes this prolific artist went through in creating works of art. The students then applied this new understanding to the paintings they created.
CPCC Ross Gallery is pleased to host this exhibition in cooperation with the Bechtler Museum of Art and art students at Mallard Creek High School.
