“OPERA LOVERS IGNORE the current generation of CPCC Opera Theatre productions at their peril.”
(A quote from a review of The Marriage of Figaro by Perry Tannenbaum, Creative Loafing- May 2007)

Marriage of Figaro Die Fledermaus

The CPCC Opera Theatre proudly announces its 2007-08 Season:

La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini on January 18, 19 @ 8:00 p.m. and January 20 @ 2:30 p.m. This most popular and beloved opera about young Parisian artists’ passionate lives will be fully staged with orchestra, and sung in Italian with supertitles.

Just as tenor, Placido Domingo, went from the performing stage to the conductor’s podium, Craig Estep, local tenor extraordinaire, will be conducting these performances of La Boheme. Not a stranger to the CPCC Opera stage, Maestro Estep performed the role of Alfred in last season’s acclaimed production of Die Fledermaus.  This season it is with great excitement that we welcome him as our conductor of La Boheme. The cast features some of the area’s brightest vocal stars. Miss it at your own peril!!

Our second operatic offering will be Giulio Cesare (Julius Caesar) by George F. Handel on May 16, 17 @ 8:00 p.m. and May 18 @ 2:30 p.m. This historical epic will be performed in concert version with orchestra and sung in Italian with supertitles.  We know Handel for his oratorio, Messiah, but it was actually his Italian operas that made his career soar. Written with some of the most beautiful melodies one will ever hear, this will be another opportunity that you will miss at your own peril. Take Perry Tannenbaum’s advice, and be there!
